Serafim Fertuzinhos is a public limited company with a share capital of 2.4 million euros, mainly engaged in the manufacture of scissors. It is a family-owned business, created over 60 years ago (established in 1958) by Serafim Fertuzinhos that started with the manufacture of knives and razors, primarily bound to the former colonies.

Following the Revolution of 1974, those markets closed up completely, and the company went through a period of economic distress. The decision to start manufacturing pruning shears dates back to those days. This change was responsible for a positive development that culminated in 1985 with the transformation into a limited liability company. At the time, the company employed around 70 workers, but everything was mostly handmade, and the labour force was a huge burden for the cost structure.

In the mid-1990s, already with a prominent position worldwide and basically the only manufacturer of this kind of products in the country, the company evolved into a higher degree of process automation.

In 2001, the company became a public limited company when some members of the family sold their stakes and its capital structure has remained the same since then. In 2007, the company acquired Artezin, which was dedicated to the same type of manufacture, thus strengthening its position in the market.
After conducting several foresight studies, in 2009 Serafim Fertuzinhos opened Carpa, a commercial network targeted at the promotion and expansion of the brand in the Brazilian market.

At the end of 2011, the company also took over Batista, Irmãos & Cia Lda. (Batil), a company focused on the manufacture of scissors for the hotel, textile and beauty industries, thus further strengthening its offer and range of products.

Today, the company is present in the five continents, in a number of countries such as Italy, Spain, South Africa, New Zealand, Brazil, Mexico, Egypt, Chile, South Korea, among many others.
